We have seen many lives changed through our programmes, here are just a few examples of what LAFA can do

Perez Auma Okwemba

I endured domestic violence in my marriage, leading me to make the difficult decision to divorce my husband in 2015. Raising my seven children became an overwhelming challenge until I joined the LAFA team in 2018. With their support, I received a loan to start my own business selling second-hand clothes. Today, I can proudly say that I no longer suffer as much. My children have returned to school, and their fees are taken care of. I am immensely grateful to LAFA for the life-changing assistance they provided.

Mary Roby

When I was in sixth grade, my parents wanted me to undergo female genital mutilation (FGM) as part of our cultural tradition. Feeling uncomfortable with this practice, I made the difficult decision to escape from home to avoid such a situation. After weeks of being homeless, I was fortunate to encounter a stranger who guided me to the LAFA organization office in Migori. LAFA welcomed me with open arms, providing me with a safe home. In 2017, they introduced me to sewing classes, where I gained valuable skills. With the support of LAFA, I opened my own textile business within a year, receiving a sewing machine and other necessary materials. Today, I am an independent woman, grateful for the life-changing impact LAFA has had on my journey.

Rose Amuok

My name is Rose Amuok, and at the age of fourteen, I am currently in eighth grade at School. In 2018, my parents tragically passed away due to HIV/AIDS, leaving me and my four siblings as total orphans. The pain and uncertainty were overwhelming until a kind neighbor introduced us to LAFA. With their support, LAFA stepped in and became our guardian angels. They have been paying our school fees, providing uniforms, books, and even ensuring we have meals. All of us now attend boarding school and are living a much-improved life. Thanks to LAFA, our worries have disappeared, and we can be carefree and happy once again.
